What Happened?
On the morning of March 26, 2019, Alison, a 60-year-old nurse’s aid, was walking out of her apartment on the way to work. As she walked down the steps to the sidewalk, Alison noticed they had a “wet” look to them. As she carefully walked down she slipped and fell on the last step and landed on her back. What Alison didn’t realize was that “wet” look was really black ice!
For reasons that defy logic and safekeeping of property, the management staff decided to test the sprinkler system early that morning while the temperature was below freezing. A good Samaritan saw Alison on the ground and called 911. Alison was immediately transported to the Saint John’s hospital where she was treated then released.
As a result of her fall, Alison suffered injuries to her back, right shoulder, and left hip. She tore her right shoulder’s rotator cuff, which required surgery. She also underwent physical therapy twice a week to ease the pain and restriction of motion that were caused by the slip-and-fall accident.
As a long time listener of our legal talk show “Cruising With The Case Handler” on 93.5 FM and Facebook, Alison knew exactly who she wanted to handle her personal injury case. She hired Adam Handler as her lawyer and trusted him with her case. Although the building management company initially denied any liability for Alison’s accident, Adam fought for her and got the settlement she very much deserves. With the help of our diligent Queens slip-and-fall accident attorney at Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCicco, LLP, The Case Handler team helped Alison recover $175,000.00 for her bodily injury claim!
The Result: $175,000.00 Settlement
