- Saray from Queens, NY
What Happened?
On October 9, 2023, Saray was the first car stopped in the left lane at a red light on 166th Street and Baisley Boulevard in Queens, New York. While waiting, she heard screeching tires but couldn’t see anything. Suddenly, a black vehicle crashed into her car and the one to her right, attempting to squeeze between them while fleeing from the police. According to authorities, the chase began when officers tried to stop the vehicle for lacking a front license plate and having tinted windows. The driver sped off, and they they eventually apprehended him, a gun was found in the car. The force of the collision pushed Saray’s car into the intersection. Saray was treated at the scene and went to urgent care the next day for further evaluation after experiencing increasing pain. She was evaluated, treated, and later discharged.
As a result of the car accident, Saray sustained injuries to her neck, shoulders, wrists, back, and right knee. She experienced severe neck pain radiating to her shoulders, weakness in her arms, and difficulty with overhead movements and sleeping. The wrist pain varied daily and worsened with lifting or pulling. Her back pain caused leg weakness, and her right knee frequently gave her sharp pains and buckled while walking. Thankfully, with conservative treatment, she recovered without needing surgery.
