What Happened?
On July 8, 2017, Didi was working as an NYPD officer in her patrol car. As she was pulling out of a tow yard with a green light near the intersection of 12th Avenue and West 34th Street in New York City, another car struck the passenger’s side of her work vehicle! She remembered hitting her head when her car was struck, but thankfully did not lose conscious. Didi was in complete shock after the accident and could not move out of the car. When help finally arrived, she asked if her nose fell off! That goes to show just how much pain she was experiencing. Didi was taken by ambulance to Bellevue Hospital Center where she was treated and released.
As a result of the accident, Didi sustained injuries to her upper back, left shoulder, and neck. She suffered multiple cervical disc bulges, disc protrusion, disc herniation and radiculopathy. Didi underwent cervical pain management injections and an injection to her left shoulder. Due to her injuries, Didi was confined to her bed for approximately 4 weeks and could not work for 2 months after the accident. Didi loved going to the gym and spending quality time with her 2-year-old child. Unfortunately, her injuries made it impossible to exercise and it was very difficult holding her own child. While treatment did improve her injuries, she continued having neck pain that grew worse with driving and that radiated to her left shoulder even two years after her accident.
Didi had heard about The Case Handler team for a long time, so she called us soon after her accident! While she focused on recovering, our team arranged for the workers’ compensation side of her accident to be taken care of and we handled her bodily injury claim. The Defendant that struck Didi blamed her for causing the accident and later sued Didi! Although the Defendant refused to be held accountable for the accident, our committed personal injury team at Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCicco, LLP successfully recovered $45,000.00 in bodily injury compensation for Didi, and she recovered additional compensation to pay for her lost wages and medical bills!
