What Happened?
On a Sunday evening, October 16, 2022, Allie was driving home after running some errands. As she approached a gas station, the car in front of her began signaling to turn left. Allie slowed down to allow the car to make the turn. However, the car behind her failed to brake in time and collided into the back of her car. Upon impact, the driver behind her inquired if she was bleeding, to which Allie responded that she wasn’t bleeding but intended to notify the authorities. Despite this, the unknown driver decided to flee the scene! Allie was subsequently transported by ambulance to Jacobi Hospital for evaluation and treatment before being discharged with pain medication.
Following the accident, Allie suffered injuries to her neck, back, and left shoulder, making it challenging for her to sit or stand for prolonged periods. Additionally, she experienced difficulty raising her left arm above the shoulder level due to shoulder pain, which was exacerbated with certain movements. Despite undergoing several months of physical therapy, Allie continued to experience significant pain, with her back pain rating as high as 7 out of 10. Fortunately, she did not require invasive treatments such as pain management injections or surgery.
Two days after the accident, Allie reached out to our personal injury team, having been referred by someone familiar with our legal services. Despite the hit-and-run nature of the incident, Allie’s quick thinking in capturing a photo of the fleeing driver’s license plate enabled us to locate the responsible party. With the dedicated assistance of our Mount Vernon hit-and-run accident attorney, we ensured that all of Allie’s medical expenses were covered and successfully secured financial compensation from the at-fault driver’s insurance company, despite their attempt to evade responsibility!
