What Happened?
On June 28th, 2021, Serenity was driving through the intersection of Crest Avenue and Adams Street in the Town of Hempstead when all of a sudden she was struck on the front driver’s side by another vehicle. Those who witnessed the accident stated that the other vehicle did stop at the stop sign then entered the intersection when Serenity was in the intersection. An ambulance arrived at the scene, but she later went to the emergency room at Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital, where she was evaluated, treated, and discharged home with pain medication prescriptions.
As a result of the accident, Serenity suffered injuries to her neck, back, and shoulder. She complained of constant neck pain that would radiate to her shoulders and upper extremity. She experienced weakness on her arms that was exacerbated by neck motion. She felt constant mid to lower back pain that felt worse with prolonged standing and bending. Serenity also complained of bilateral shoulder pain that felt worse with overhead activities. In addition, she drove her car less due to nervousness and anxiety since the date of the accident. Serenity attended physical therapy for several months, participated in a home exercise program, and missed about two months of work.
