What Happened?
On August 9th, 2020, Tanya was riding in the back seat as an Uber passenger. While sitting directly behind the driver with her eyes closed, Tanya was suddenly thrown to the opposite side of the backseat. The accident happened so fast that she had no idea what had happened! The Uber vehicle was struck on the side by another vehicle that was turning left from a service road near Kings Highway in Brooklyn, NY. Tanya was removed from the vehicle and taken by ambulance to Kings County Hospital Center where she was evaluated, treated, and discharged home the same day.
Tanya injured her left shoulder, neck, and back as a result of the accident. She experienced severe pain and difficulty raising the left arm, lifting the arm, and reaching backwards. She also had persistent neck pain that would radiate to her left arm and was associated with numbness and weakness in her left arm. Due to her injuries, she had difficulty sleeping at night. Prior to the accident, she had no such issues. When conservative treatment failed to improve her injuries, Tanya underwent left shoulder arthroscopic surgery on November 11th, 2020, and lower back surgery on December 8th, 2020.
