What Happened?
On July 16th, 2022, Donna was walking eastbound on the northern pedestrian walkway on East Parkway near the intersection of New York Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. While in the crosswalk with the walk signal on, a vehicle driving westbound on East Parkway made a right turn and struck her left side. Instead of stopping to check on Donna, the vehicle fled from the scene! The accident happened so fast that, unfortunately, there were no witnesses or photos taken of the vehicle. Donna was transported by ambulance to Kings County Hospital Center where she was evaluated, treated, and released home.
Donna injured her right shoulder, left shoulder, and left hip due to the hit-and-run accident. She suffered a large bruise over her left hip and the left side of her pelvis at the time of the accident. Donna experienced pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness in her arms and legs. She had severe pain and loss of range of motion in the right shoulder that made it difficult for her to use her arm to clean, cook, or make a bed. She was required to undergo arthroscopic surgery for the right shoulder (rotator cuff tear, biceps tear, and labral tear) on September 27, 2022, attended physical therapy for several months, and was unable to return to work for several months as well.
A family member of Donna happened to be a past client of The Case Handler team and told Donna to call us as soon as possible! Two days after she was hit, she spoke with our team to see if we could help her. Despite the fact that the driver was never identified, the most important part of Donna’s situation was to get her the medical attention she needed while we handled her bodily injury claim. With the help of our experienced Brooklyn pedestrian hit-and-run lawyer at Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCicco, LLP, Donna’s medical bills and lost wages were paid, and she recovered a $95,000.00 settlement!
