What Happened?
On October 6, 2017, Michael was driving his truck south on the Bronx River Parkway while listening to his music. He began to slow to traffic ahead when a commercial vehicle behind him slammed into the rear of his car, causing him to strike the car in front of him and deploying the airbags. He remembers hitting his head and the right side of his body during the accident. Michael was brought by ambulance to Jacobi Hospital where he was evaluated and eventually released.
As a result of the accident, Michael suffered injuries to his neck, back, shoulders, and right knee. MRI of his spine revealed multilevel disc herniations and disc bulges as well as spondylolisthesis (when a bone/vertebra slips onto the bone below it). He was prescribed physical therapy. Despite this, he continued to feel pain in both shoulders and knees. When minimally invasive pain management did not improve his condition, he received an epidural steroid injection to his spine and underwent right knee surgery on January 19, 2018. Michael has been totally disabled from employment since the date of the accident.
Thanks to his coworker, Michael was recommended to The Case Handler team! At mediation, the insurance company offered Michael $1 million dollars. While the offer was a decent number, The Case Handler team knew that Michael deserved more. After walking away from their offer, the insurance company called us back a week later and offered $1.7 million dollars!
“The process couldn’t be any better. Adam Handler and his team was always there for me.” – Michael
