What Happened?
On January 8th, 2022, Bryson was riding an e-bike for work on East 118th Street in East Harlem. While he was going through the intersection of East 118th Street and 1st Avenue with the green light, there was a vehicle traveling north on 1st Avenue that disregarded their red light. The vehicle struck Bryson’s electronic bike on the right side and knocked him to the ground. To make matters worse, the vehicle that hit Bryson left the accident scene! Bryson was taken by ambulance to Lincoln Hospital where he was evaluated, treated, and discharged home with a prescription for pain medication.
Bryson injured his lower back, knees, and right thigh as a result of the accident. His e-bike was completely totaled as well. Prolonged standing, walking, and bending would aggravate his back pain. Prolonged standing, walking, and going up and down stairs would aggravate his knee pain. While he injured both knees, his right knee felt more weak and would buckle. The pain in his right anterior thigh was aggravated by pressure or touch. When over five months of minimally invasive pain management failed to improve his knee pain, Bryson underwent right knee surgery (lateral meniscus tear) on July 22nd, 2022.
Thanks to a friend’s recommendation, Bryson heard all about The Case Handler team and decided to give us a call. Although the driver of the vehicle fled the scene, our investigators were able to successfully locate and contact witnesses that made it possible to find the owner of the vehicle that hit Bryson! Soon after Bryson’s surgery, the Defendant’s insurance company initially offered $30k to settle his case. It’s a lot of money, but not enough for Bryson! We rejected their offer and the insurance company then offered $35k, $45k, and $70k. With the help of our leading Manhattan e-bike accident lawyer at Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCicco, LLP, all of Bryson’s medical bills were paid and he recovered $85,000.00 – almost 3x more than the original offer!
