What Happened?
On February 18, 2014, Abigail was a standing passenger on a bus owned and operated by the MTA Bus Company. As the bus approached the intersection of Guy Brewer Boulevard and Claude Avenue, another MTA bus struck the rear bus in which Abigail was standing. Several passengers fell on Abigail as a result, injuring her left leg. The MTA bus in the rear later claimed that the accident was caused by icy road conditions. After the accident, Abigail was placed in an ambulance and transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
As a result of the accident, Abigail was diagnosed with a left leg fracture (tibial plateau fracture) and was admitted to Jamaica Hospital for 38 days. Two days after the accident, she underwent surgery to her leg fracture. Following her release from the hospital, she underwent years of physical therapy and a series of steroid injections to her knee. Abigail walks with a limp and her injuries cause continuous pain.
Thankfully, Abigail’s husband heard about Adam Handler and told Abigail to contact him. The initial offer from the insurance company was an impressive $1.5 million. However, Adam thought there was much more to be gained in court. In the end, The Case Handler team fought hard to award Abigail with a $3,889,000.00 verdict!
